Janelle Montgomery

Water Use Efficiency Officer
Janelle Commenced work as a Water Use Efficiency Officer, based in Moree, in November 2006. JanelleI obtained a Master of Science in Agriculture from the University of New England in 1995 where she  studied soil science, agronomy and sustainable land management. Janelle completed a research project focusing on soil hydrology. Completed a PhD in 2003 that was funded by the Australian Cotton Cooperative Research Centre. This research measured the components of the soil water balance under irrigated cotton and investigated irrigation efficiency and the threat of irrigation induced salinity in cotton soils. From 1998-2002 Janelle was employed by the University of New England as Research Fellow and was based in Moree. I was the key researcher on a Natural Heritage Trust and Gwydir Valley Irrigators Association funded project investigating the impacts of irrigation on water quality, soil salinity and birdlife. From 2004-2006 ! Jnaelle worked as a Community Support Officer with the Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Management Authority in Moree where I assisted the community to plan and implement on-ground NRM projects and source funding from various Federal and State and Regional Funding Programs.
